Welcome to the official blog for Microdwelling 2014, an exhibition of owner built microdwellings at the Shemer Art Museum in Phoenix, Arizona from February 15 until March 23, 2014.
The first show at the Shemer in 2012 was a great success and we're coming back with an even bigger show for 2014. There will be 14 microdwellings from a diverse group of builders, and designed for a wide variety of uses.

I am thrilled to share the news that we will be featuring more first time builders for the 2014 Builder’s Showcase than last year, proof that the microdwelling trend is truly gaining traction.
Since our last show, the microdwelling concept has only spread further around the United States, gaining notice from popular design websites like Curbed and Dwell. More and more Americans are relying on their own ingenuity and creativity to build personal, one-of-a-kind spaces using recycled, salvaged, and re-purposed materials. These microdwellings are not only affordable and energy efficient, they are work spaces and housing to truly call one’s own.
With Microdwelling 2014 we will be showcasing through workshops, demonstrations, lectures, and our Builder’s Showcase, how local Arizonans are creating unique microdwellings to improve their quality of life and their community.
We are extremely excited about all the events we have in store for you throughout February and March, and we will be spotlighting members of the Microdwelling community right here on this blog. Watch this space for interviews, how-to demonstrations, and information and updates related to Microdwelling 2014.
